Georges & Samuel Mohsen are Cairo-based, Egyptian documentary photographers and visual researchers known for their in-depth visual storytelling, research-driven practice, and commitment to capturing cultural and sociopolitical realities across Egypt. Their work explores themes of memory, identity, and sociopolitical transformation in urban and rural landscapes.
Since 2008, they have used photography and videography to document key historical moments. Their professional career began in 2011, amidst the pivotal events of the Egyptian Revolution. From 2011 to 2013, they worked as staff photojournalists at Al-Shorouk Newspaper, under the mentorship of renowned Egyptian photographer Randa Shaath. During this period, they covered daily news and major political developments, gaining valuable experience in fast-paced editorial environments. These early years shaped their visual language and grounded their practice in long-form storytelling and human-centered reportage.
Their photographs have since been published by leading international media outlets, including CNN, Forbes, BBC, Business Insider, Al Arabiya, Yahoo News, La Stampa, and The Washington Post. They are also regular contributors to The World of Interiors and Le Parisien, and have regularly worked with prominent clients such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Finance in Motion.
Their ongoing long-term, self-funded research-based project on the chapel of Collège De La Salle explores the architectural and communal dimensions of the space, using it as a lens to examine Egypt’s evolving social fabric, collective memory, and shifting identity from the 1950s to the present day. The project traces how historical change is embedded in the physical structure and social role of the chapel. It combines archival processing, documentary and architectural visual documentation, preservation, and storytelling. Community engagement is central to the work, with guided tours, public discussions, and educational outreach creating an active dialogue between memory, change, and contemporary lived experience.
The twin brothers continue to collaborate with NGOs, as well as local and international organizations, to produce both short- and long-term documentary stories. Based in Egypt, they remain active in documentary photography, working on commissioned stories, personal projects, and special coverage of significant events. They are available to cover projects of varying scale and duration both in Egypt and internationally.
