” Documenting Spaces ”
By Georges & Samuel
With a background in documentary and photojournalism, Georges and Samuel developed a deep passion for architecture, Design and urban planning. They believe in the importance of studying and documenting our architectural environment and its influence on society. This conviction led them to focus more towards documentary architectural photography.
They founded GS Studio, specializing in architecture and interior design photography. Since then, they have collaborated with renowned architects and interior designers, documenting projects across Egypt, the Middle East, and, more recently, France. Their notable projects include documenting Le Corbusier’s works—Villa Savoye, Couvent La Tourette, and Unité d’Habitation—in collaboration with La Cité Radieuse in Marseille. They were also commissioned by Dar Arafa architecture to document La Maison d’Égypte in Paris by Dar Arafa & Sam Architecture, first in November 2023 before its occupation and later for a post-occupancy evaluation, where they accompanied Egyptian architect Waleed Arafa in May 2024. Additionally, they have extensively documented the Grand Egyptian Museum throughout its progress and completion, capturing its transformation into one of the most significant cultural landmarks in the world. in collaboration with Dublin Based practice Heneghan Peng Architects and Delta Lighting
Georges & Samuel’s approach to architectural photography is deeply rooted in their documentary background, where they work to tell a story through every space they document. They prioritize the importance of understanding the design intent, closely collaborating with architects and designers to accurately reflect the style and vision of each project.
Since 2020, Georges & Samuel Mohsen have been working on a long-term research project centered on the Chapel of Collège De La Salle, in collaboration with architect Daniel Kaldas. The project combines architecture research, archival processing, and visual documentation to explore the chapel’s unique design within the broader context of Egypt’s history, identity, and sociopolitical shifts during the Nasser era. As part of this work, they are preserving rare original drawings by Antoine Selim Nahas, Dimitri Diacomidos, and Seddik Shehab El Din.
They are contributors at The World of Interior, and their work has been published in a range of prestigious magazines, newspapers, and media outlets, including CNN, Business Insider, Forbes, BBC, Al-Arabia, La Stampa, Yahoo News, The Washington Post, ArchDaily, , Design Boom, Concrete Quarterly , AD Middle East, Al Beit Magazine and SceneHome.
